Document: Citizens of Niger Republic, Chad have been participating in elections, census in the north
Many people have been arguing that citizens of Niger Republic and Chad always participate in elections and census in northeast and northwest Nigeria. There have been some valid points to back this argument, but the recent participation of two governors from Niger Republic in APC rally in Kano seems to be a confirmation to such claim.
Recall that on Thursday, 31 January, 2019 Salihu Yakasai , media aide to Kano State Governor , Umar Ganduje , said this on his Twitter handle beneath a photo of the governors and Ganduje.
Yakasai said, “ H .E @GovUmarGanduje with his deputy H. E Dr Nasiru Gawuna , His former Dep H .E Prof Hafiz Abubakar, Minister of Interior Abdurrahman Dambazau & that of Water Resources Kazaure , Governors of Zinder and Maradi from Niger Republic , & others getting ready to receive @MBuhari # PMBinKano .”
This drew widespread condemnation but both APC and the presidency defended and justified it.
Another document has emerged which showed that the visit of the two governors from Niger Republic had the full backing of the president of Niger Republic, Mahamadou Issoufou, and it could be sign that citizens of that country may be voting in the forthcoming elections in Nigeria.
